Job Title: Production Manager

Overview:
The Cowell Theater Production Manager is an important pre-booking and primary post-booking production contact for the diverse clientele who utilize the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center. The Manager provides professional leadership and support to a busy production team. S/he oversees the work of the Technical Director, stage technicians, house managers and facility technicians. The Production Manager must be adept at customer relations and quick problem solving.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others may be assigned.
- Coordinate with clients, prior to event, on front-of-house needs, all production needs and approve technical plans for use of the theater
- Prepare work schedules and assign on-call technical and venue personnel to meet production needs
- Prepare pre-production and other related paperwork for theater & event staff
- Work with client to ensure compliance with FMC’s agreement with IATSE (Local 16)
- Track technical staff hours and other billable items. Track non-billable expenditures
- Work closely with the Production Assistant for the Southside Theater
- Maintain an inventory of materials and equipment needed for the operation of the Theater, prepare annual capital expenditures budget and provide long-term planning for equipment purchases
- Create and implement a program of preventative maintenance for all theater equipment
- Act as the main point of contact for the facility and coordinate with facility technicians on maintenance needs
Qualifications:
Candidates must be organized, detail-oriented, have strong administrative skills, and excellent customer service skills with at least five years experience in production management. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of production including set building, rigging, sound and lighting design, and health and safety along with a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology equipment and/or systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required. Experience in rental theaters and IATSE preferred.
This is a part-time, temporary position with flexible hours that will depend on show schedules and client needs. The position will range from 25–35 hours per week.
