50th Anniversary Book Sale

Festival Pavilion — Apr 20th through Apr 24th

Friends of the San Francisco Public Library turns 50 in 2011 -- to celebrate half a century of supporting the San Francisco Public Library (SFPL), we are hosting the 50th Anniversary Book Sale.

The 50th Anniversary Sale features more than 250,000 books, DVDs, CDs, books on tape, vinyl, and other forms of media. EVERYTHING is $3 or less, priced with a 3-2-1 scale -- $3 for hard cover books, $2 for paperback books, and $1 for DVDs, CDs, books on tape, vinyl, and other forms of media. All items remaining on Sunday are $1 or less.

Just like Friends' Annual Big Book Sale (held at Fort Mason Center in September), the 50th Anniversary Sale involves books sorted in more than 50 categories and the help of hundreds of volunteers. Throughout the year, Friends of the SFPL staff and volunteers collect used and new books from a variety of different sources, including estate sales, businesses, publishers, and book donors across the San Francisco Bay Area.

The 50th Anniversary Sale is free and open to the public. All benefit the SFPL's education programs to promote literacy for children, teens, and adults.
