Sky Painting Workshop
Bldg C, Room C-362 — Nov 16th through Nov 17th
Introducing an exciting new workshop that covers how to approach painting skies from your imagination, reference, and on location. Understanding light, mood, atmosphere, and color harmonies plays a crucial role in bringing the viewer closer into your world. We look at historic examples of inspiring sky paintings/sketches. In addition we go over different types of cloud structures, weather conditions, and how atmosphere can harmonize your work.
Starting with thumbnail sketches in our sketchbooks we lay the foundation for our sky compositions. This can include hints of the distant landscape horizon as well. We will be using mixed media, such as gouache, watercolor and acrylics for this workshop. Lighting and weather conditions will be heavily considered in our designs. This has practical applications for concept designers, fine artists, illustrators and for those who want to explore new approaches to create evocative backgrounds or to focus on this classic genre, regardless of the medium used.
Please join us for this November workshop to see the horizon in new ways!
