APRIL
2005
Festival Pavilion
One could call it "Around the World With 200 Beers."
The 22nd Annual International Beer Festival returns to the
Festival Pavilion April 9 with food, music, and, of course,
beer. All kinds of beer. How about Belhaven from Scotland?
Or maybe the New York Belgian-styled ales from Ommegang, "where
the beer isnt overhopped or overhyped." How many
of these beer names do you recognize? Topo Loco, Hebrew,
Biére du Démon, Fat Tire?
And the food? How about calamari from Aliotos, cheese
from the Cowgirl Creamery, shrimp cocktails from the Swan
Oyster Depot, or pâté from Marcel et Henri? There
are many more beers and dozens more fine food purveyors participating
in the evening celebration. As many as 2,000 guests are expected
to find new favorites among the stouts, lagers, and pilsners.
Theres more than great food and great beer. One of the
best benefits of the legendary event is that you can have
a good time and not feel one iota of the guilt that comes
from self-indulgence. The proceeds benefit the Telegraph Hill
Cooperative Nursery School, one of the oldest active co-ops
in San Francisco. More than 70 percent of the schools
budget is derived from the beer festival.
And while the age for admittance is 21, many of those well
under that age will benefit.

9 calendar listing and visit www.sfbeerfest.com.
