Festival Pavillion
The holiday season is a time our generous spirits awaken.
The Guardsmen, who set up a huge Christmas tree lot at Fort
Mason Center each year, have a way for you to be generous
to yourself as well as others. Buy a tree from the Guardsman
and they will spend roughly 95 percent of what you give them
for childrens programs.
With additional money from major donors, the group raises
more than a million dollars each year money that sends
about 3,000 children to camp. While the children come from
a wide range of backgrounds, there is special emphasis on
those who are physically and emotionally challenged.
In
the last few years the Guardsmen Christmas Tree lot
this year in the Festival Pavilion has become a one-stop
holiday shop, with ornaments, wreaths, tree stands, and other
decorations. Free popcorn and a big, inflated jumpy for the
kids makes a tree-buying excursion an enjoyable undertaking.
Open the last day of November, the "lot" remains
open until December 18. For more information, check the December
1 listing in the calendar and visit www.guardsmen.org.
