Fort Mason Foundation Main Office Lobby, Building A
Robert De Goff is a modern classicist. His exhibit of realistic
landscape paintings in the main office of the Fort Mason Foundation,
"There Are Places I Remember," is a journey of recollection
through places and things that have touched and affected him.
Like the Hudson River School painters of the nineteenth century
whom he considers an influence De Goff has a
deep regard for the fleeting moments of nature. He works in
a style of heightened contrast, imparting a sense of drama
to the landscape.
De
Goff came to painting through the related field of architecture.
He is also an author and university lecturer. His love for
nature is apparent in his work as he continues, in his words,
"the American agrarian tradition in romantic opposition to
contemporary urban life."
"There Are Places I Remember" is on display through December
31. See the Galleries
listing for details.
