Cowell Theater
What do The Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, the Ramones,
and Nine Inch Nails have to do with kids holiday shows?
Find out with The Sippy Cups at the Cowell this December.
The Bay Area rock band stages a family-friendly yuletide variety
show complete with circus acts, puppets, audience participation,
and a festive party atmosphere.
Sippy Cups popularity is on the rise after a steady stream
of gigs that delight kids and parents alike. The bands
playlist reads like a page from the Rock & Roll Hall of
Fame handbook with cool hits by The Kinks, David Bowie, T.
Rex, and The Beatles, along with original tunes. Lead singer
Paul Godwin and lead guitarist Mark Verlander perform a new
rendition of "Jingle Bell Rock" at the holiday shows.
Sippy Cups co-founder Doug Nolan is also the man behind Rock
Steady Juggling, a group of performers who can toss around
anything from flaming torches to hula hoops
while peddling unicycles. Rock Steady makes a guest appearance
during the Sippy Cups Christmas extravaganza. Also on the
bill are vocalists from Flying Without Instruments, an a cappella
ensemble that sings classics from the 14th through 21st centuries.
If all that entertainment isnt rambunctious enough,
be sure to stick around for the audience participation segment
of the show. Adults and kids are welcome to sing along, dance,
volunteer for circus stunts, or join the band onstage. If
youve never experienced a preschool mosh pit, your time
has come.
Funk out and rock on this Christmas with The Sippy Cups.
