The grand Arts of Pacific Asia Show returns in February for
its 10th year at Fort Mason Center with a show that represents
more than 2,000 years of Asian art and culture.
On
Thursday, February 2, from 7 to 10 p.m., the red carpet rolls
out for a preview gala that benefits the Asian Art Museum's
Chong-Moon Lee Center for Asian Art and Culture. On Friday
and throughout the weekend, visitors will have the opportunity
to see items from 75 of the world's top galleries specializing
in Asian art.
Among
the objects featured are jewelry and paintings from India;
bronzes from Nepal; robes, snuff bottles, cloisonné
and porcelain from China; and kimonos, woodblock prints and
antique netsuke from Japan. Indonesian furniture and ceremonial
objects and Korean ceramics are also featured in this exhibition
for collectors and all those interested in the colorful and
lengthy history of Asian art.
Well-known lecturer Don Buhman, board member of the Society
for Asian Art, leads two 9:30 a.m. walk-through tours of the
show, one on Friday, the other on Saturday.
