Conference Center, Building AFrom LucasArts and Pixar to Electronic Arts, the San Francisco Bay Area is a growing nexus for the animation, interactive entertainment, and electronic game industries. Job prospects for women are accelerating in the field of interactive game technologies. Women In Games International (WIGI) hosts a conference, "Games For Women, Games By Women," at Fort Mason Center to explore career opportunities and game design for women.
"As the game industry continues to grow, the interest in attracting women into the industry has also grown," said Sheri Graner Ray, WIGI's steering committee chair and the lead content designer for Sony Online Entertainment.
The affordable, half-day conference brings together veteran game developers and newcomers to address issues related to women in games. Roundtable sessions discuss marketing to women, gender-inclusive game design, how to break into the business, mid-career strategies, and balancing work and life demands.
"Games wouldn't be what they are today without the combined ideas and technical skills of both men and women," said Kathy Schoback, WIGI's development leader and head of content acquisition at Ageia in Mountain View, CA. "WIGI … get[s] industry leaders together to share insights and inspire even more women to join this exciting field"
