Conference Center, Building A; Herbst Pavilion & Herbst International Exhibition Hall,
Presidio of San Francisco
A bevy of fundraisers flows into Fort Mason Center in March. Nearly every weekend brings a new chance to support worthy causes while having a good time. All of the March fundraising events are dedicated to education and childrenís issues.
Pacific Primary Preschool
“A Tree Grows On Grove Street” is the theme for the 2006 Pacific Primary Auction, which takes place in Fort Mason Center’s Herbst Pavilion and benefits an excellent San Francisco school. The auction offers opportunities to bid on thousands of items such as baseball tickets, auto repair services, local restaurant dinners, and vacation packages.
Families of Pacific Primary students plan, organize, and staff the event and also request donated goods and services for the auction and prepare food for the festivities. The money raised goes to the schoolís tuition assistance and creative arts programs. See March 4 and www.pacificprimary.org for details.
International French School
Head over to Fort Mason Center’s Herbst International Exhibition Hall in the San Francisco Presidio for “Under The Big Top,” a circus-themed auction for the Lycée Français La Pérouse. This renowned private school in San Francisco and Marin county has been educating students from preschool through 12th grade with European flair since 1967.
Inside a colorful circus tent, auction goers bid on luxurious gifts to support the school while also dining at a sumptuous buffet and enjoying circus performers, music, and dancing. For more information, see March 10 and www.lelycee.org.
Roman Holiday
Help send more than 700 children and families coping with cancer to summer camp at the Okizu Foundation’s thrilling “When In Rome” Art Inspiring Hope Gala in the Herbst Pavilion. Stroll through the Roman Forum on your way to a delicious seated dinner, lively auctions, and entertainment fit for an imperial audience.
Since 1982, Camp Okizu has brightened the lives of more than 3,000 young cancer patients, their siblings, and families who attend free camps in the gorgeous Sierra foothills of Northern California. Okizu has recently added snow trips and camps for teenagers and young adults and special bereavement programs. For details, visit www.okizu.org and see March 11.
