Greens Restaurant, Building A & Magic Theatre, Building D
As part of the countdown to Fort Mason Foundation’s 30th anniversary, the Fort Mason Foundation Advisory Council is acknowledging some of the many long-standing relationships with people and organizations. Thursday, April 19, marked the first in a series of Fort Mason Foundation Salutes events.
Advisory Council Co-Chairs Laura King Pfaff and Martin Quinn were on hand to honor Annie Somerville, executive chef from Greens Restaurant.
More than 60 guests turned out for the sold-out event to celebrate the face behind the imaginative menu at Greens. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and several new ones as each paid tribute to Annie, who has a worldwide reputation as a champion of organic and sustainable farmers and who helped establish vegetarian cuisine in the United States.
Guests included Supervisor Aaron Peskin and his wife Nancy Shanahan, the first Superintendent of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area Bill Whalen, former Foundation Board members Sally Lovett and Bob Domrese, Gloria Fontenello, Glady Thacher, Alec and Gail Merriam, and a host of representatives from the community.
The audience praised Annie Somerville during the informal testimonials that followed the presentation of her achievements.
Fort Mason Foundation honors Chris Smith, Artistic Director of the Magic Theatre, on June 6, 2006. For more information, please call (415) 345-7560.
