Festival Pavilion
Every August brings a festival of fine craft to Fort Mason Center — the American Craft Council’s San Francisco Fine Craft Show. The 2006 show promises to be notably inspiring with the addition of wine tasting and a special exhibition of work by alumni from the California College of the Arts.
More than 250 fine craft artists from throughout America participate in the American Craft Council (ACC) show, which occupies both the Herbst and Festival pavilions. For a mere $10 admission fee, you can stroll through hundreds of booths displaying gorgeous handmade items and also sip fine wine from idyllic wineries such as Iron Horse Vineyards and Topel Wines.
One of the best aspects of the ACC show is the opportunity to meet artists from all across the United States and discuss their work with them. The type of craft represented at the ACC show runs the gamut from unique designs in home décor and furniture to the latest in distinctive fashion items, jewelry, and fiber art. Basketry, ceramics, glass, metal, leather, and wood are among the specialties at the show.
Eclectic pieces from the juried California College of the Arts (CCA) show add an extra dimension of beauty to what is already a stellar exhibition of art. CCA is a revered San Francisco Bay Area institution that has been a creative home for innovative artists since 1907.
Join a community of fine craft artists and enthusiasts at the American Craft Council show. For details, see August 11 and www.craftcouncil.org/sf or call (800) 836-3470.
