Cowell Theater
Outdoor action comes indoors at the Cowell Theater this November. The world’s largest action sports film, Warren Miller’s PLAYGROUND, will hit the screen for one night on its nationwide tour.
The film showcases extreme winter sports footage from around the globe presented in crystal-clear high definition. Skiing, snowboarding, and more from Sweden to Canada, Alaska to Japan, and several locations in between are all featured. Also included is an unlikely winter sports destination, Ski Dubai, a surreal resort found directly within the Arabian Desert. Jonny Moseley, skiing icon and Olympic Gold Medalist, narrates the feature while the Beastie Boys, Maroon 5, and Queens of the Stone Age provide the soundtrack.
Warren Miller has a long history of pioneering leadership in action sports cinematography. PLAYGROUND, his 58th feature film, adds to the legacy. According to Max Bervy, director and producer, the PLAYGROUND is “a place where authority figures cease to exist, where fun and challenge are the only goals and creativity and freedom the only rules.” The film follows “the leading athletes of the industry on a journey to a special place where anything is possible on the side of a snow covered mountain.” Sounds like it has great potential to get winter sports enthusiasts revved up for the upcoming season.
