DECEMBER 2007

HOLIDAY SHOPPING, PART DEUX

Campus Wide

Holiday shopping continues at Fort Mason Center (FMC) in December. The Women’s Building stages another weekend of the Celebration of Craftswomen on December 1 and 2, and City College of San Francisco’s Holiday Art Exhibit & Sale continues in Building B that same weekend. Hi Ho Silver sells sterling silver jewelry and gift items each weekend through December 16. And that same day The Guardsmen wrap up their Christmas tree sales in the Festival Pavilion.

Four other groups present gift ideas this month:

On December 1, a sale of collectables, prints, movie memorabilia, and music CDs takes place in the Gatehouse. Kingwell-Wehrmeister Prints offers antique and decorative prints and maps as well as jazz, pop, and classic CDs. And for the film fan on your shopping list, there are movie posters, photos and other movie memorabilia. See the calendar for details.

Alumni from the Rhode Island School Of Design (RISD), one of the nation’s most prestigious art institutions, hold their annual holiday sale at FMC on December 2. More than 30 artists show paintings, prints, photography, sculpture, ceramics, cards, textiles, wearable art, toys, home accessories, and much more at this one-day event. See December 2 in the calendar for details.

For three days, from December 14 to 16, you can peruse the collections of some of the Bay Area’s most exciting designers, artisans, manufacturers, and importers. Jewelry, scarves, vases, candles, blankets, baby gifts, handbags, cashmere pieces and more are among the many items available at the Holiday Shopping Gala. Among those showing wares are Baby Jak, Batle Studio, Chumil, Dolma, Et Al Designs, Hi Ho Silver San Francisco, Josie Carter, Michael Szabo, and Sally Spicer Handbags.

On December 20 Artodox Publishing and the Consulate General of the Russian Federation present The Mix: Russian Modern Art. For one evening only guests can view the work of 35 contemporary Russian artists. The evening is a benefit for the future San Francisco Museum of Russian Contemporary Art, and Vladimir Vinokurov, the Consul General of the Russian Federation, is the honored guest. The festivities include cocktails and wine, hors d’oeuvres from the kitchen of the Russian Consulate General, live music by Urban Trio and a silent auction. See December 20 in the calendar for details.
