The Academy Of Friends — Raising Money & Awareness
Festival Pavilion
For over a quarter century, the Academy of Friends (AOF) has raised money for AIDS and HIV-related organizations. What began as an informal get-together with friends on Oscar night 1980 has evolved into one of San Francisco’s premiere Oscar-night parties. And all the funds raised go to AIDS/HIV charities.
On February 24, the 28th Annual Academy of Friends returns to the Festival Pavilion for “Shaken, Not Stirred,” an evening of opulence and glamour with a salute to the James Bond films. Dancing, live entertainment, a luxury silent auction, and a live drawing for a Mercedes-Benz 2008C-class sedan are all part of the evening.
And there is, of course, the Oscar telecast. Guests can watch the event from huge, suspended flat screens or in intimate sitting areas while sipping on wines and sampling delicacies from fine food purveyors and local restaurants.
Proceeds from the event support twelve Bay Area HIV/AIDS agencies working with individuals and families affected by the disease. Since 1981, AOF has raised more than $6.5 million for this praiseworthy cause.
Wine and dine with a purpose. Attend the 28th Annual Academy of Friends Oscar Night Party, have a great time, and support a worthwhile cause at the same time. For details see February 24 in the calendar and visit www.academyoffriends.org.
