Conference Center, Building C, Gatehouse
Once again October is the month for art lovers as ArtSpan presents San Francisco (SF) Open Studios ‘08. The annual event begins with a launch party and preview exhibition on October 4 and continues each weekend into November. On October 11 and 12 more than 50 artists fill Fort Mason Center (FMC) with paintings, photographs, prints, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, and more — all available for viewing and purchase.
SF Open Studios is the longest running and most extensive open studio event in the country. Begun 33 years ago, Open Studios gives emerging and established artists the opportunity to invite the public into their workspaces, sell their work, and gain exposure. It provides art lovers the chance to meet artists, see where art is created, and build their collections. Artists who don’t have studio spaces that they can open to the public exhibit their work here at FMC.

According to ArtSpan, San Francisco boasts the nation’s highest number of artists per capita. Come to FMC the second weekend in October and experience art from some of the best artists this city has to offer.
See October 11 in the calendar for more details and a list of artists. Visit www.artspan.org for information about the launch party, preview exhibition, and other sites of SF Open Studios.
