Fort Mason Foundation (FMF) announced the hiring of three senior managers, Jim Armstrong, CFRE, as Development Director, Karen Hein as Controller, and John Dorsey as Facilities Director.
Armstrong brings more than 30 years of experience in the areas of nonprofit fund development, organizational management, and marketing. He has worked with a variety of organizations, including universities and preparatory schools; arts groups; youth and social service agencies and health care institutions. He received Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) status in 1982, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Politics and a Nonprofit Organizational Management Certificate from the University of San Francisco.
Hein was most recently the business manager for the Colorado Springs World Arena. Prior to her tenure there, she worked at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Schlage Lock Company, and Baird, Kurtz & Dobson Certified Public Accountants. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Dorsey joins FMF as the new Facilities Director, following his four-year tenure as Facility Manager for the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at U.C. Davis. Prior to that position, he was the Director of Facilities at the Omaha Performing Arts Society and the Arts Center Foundation in Dayton, Ohio. He received his degree in Lighting Design and Technical Production from the University of North Carolina.
The Foundation also announced the appointment of Ann Lazarus as interim Executive Director. Lazarus, who has broad non-profit and civic experience, will lead the organization as it conducts a national search for a permanent executive director. The search is expected to be completed by year-end.
